HH HAS SHOWN RARE LEADERSHIP QUALITY ON ISSUES OF THE ECONOMY- BISHOP MAMBO

Commenting on President Hakainde’s end of 2023 presser, Bishop John Mambo said that the updates from the President has given him firm assurance that Zambia’s social-economic conditions will begin showing decisive positive improvements in 2024. Bishop Mambo said that those who have not forgotten where Zambia was heading to before the 2021 Elections, will surely appreciate the strides President Hakainde Hichilema and the new dawn government have made so far.

“Our country was headed for economic ruin under the PF government and pretty much, we were living in an artificial economy supported by growing debt, unsustainable subsidies and high levels of financial indiscipline. Zambia’s economy was headed for collapse and we all knew it. That is why Zambians rose to vote out the PF” Mr. Mambo explained.

Bishop Mambo said that to rectify the economic disaster we were headed for as a country, a bold reset was clearly inevitable. Mr. Mambo said that unfortunately, the reset process has come with some harsh economic experiences for many Zambians. “However, what Zambians can be rest assured is that the measures taken so far, will eventually yield fruits to the benefit of all Zambians” Bishop Mambo said.

Bishop John Mambo, said President HH has demonstrated very commendable leadership quality by taking decisions that were painful but vitally necessary for the future well-being our economy. Things are so harsh for many families it is easy for some Zambians to misunderstand it to mean that the President has failed to manage the economy. The truth, on the other hand, is that our economy has been methodically reset for future boom.

“Quite frankly, President HH risked his very political career by some of the decisions he has had to make. I can assure you that very few political leaders would have had the courage and determination President HH has shown in ensuring our economy is recalibrated for prosperity. In his own words and with full awareness, President HH at some point did indicate that he was willing to do what is right even if it meant being voted out of power in 2026. Now that is true and rare leadership for an African politician” Mr. Mambo said.

Commenting on Zambians who still question the value of President HH’s international trips, Bishop Mambo said, these trips will definitely bring investments and jobs into Zambia. He said, you don’t discuss a $200 million investments today and expect that the money will come into Zambia next month. “ It does not work like that in the real world.” Mr. Mambo added. “Big investments take a bit of time to materialize”

As part of his end of year message, Bishop Mambo encouraged Zambians to remain united and to do their best as they contribute to the economic growth of their country as it will take all Zambians to play their part for Zambia to succeed.
